Pantone Colour of the Year 2026
Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2026 is Cloud Dancer (11-4201), a soft white that feels calm, fresh and easy to live with. We don’t use brilliant whites; old properties look better with warmer tones.
One of our favourite whites is Johnstone’s 0603 Y20R, which works particularly well on ceilings and architraves in older properties. It has just enough warmth to sit comfortably alongside traditional architecture without looking creamy, making it a colour we return to time and again.
Another is Johnsons 0903 Y30R which we used on the walls in this traditional bathroom.
Antiques and Auctions
Antiques continue to be one of the best ways to give a home individuality and character. Whether it’s a chest of drawers, a dining table or a pair of lamps, older pieces often bring a sense of craftsmanship that is difficult to replicate today.
We source much of our furniture through auctions and antique dealers, both locally and further afield. Mixing antique pieces with contemporary upholstery and lighting creates interiors that feel collected over time rather than bought all at once. It’s also a sustainable way to furnish a home, giving beautifully made pieces a new life.
We sourced this Louis XIV chair for Knockderry castle and had it reupholstered in GPJ Baker Chifu velvet.
Pattern on Pattern
For many years interiors were dominated by plain fabrics and neutral palettes, but pattern is making a confident return. Clients are becoming much more adventurous. We like to combining wallpaper, curtains, upholstery and cushions in complementary prints to create rooms with warmth and personality.
The key is balance. We tend to work within a consistent colour palette and vary the scale of the patterns so that everything feels connected rather than competing. When used thoughtfully, layered pattern creates comfortable, welcoming interiors that reflect the people who live in them.
