Why should I hire an interior designer?

Whether you have no idea how to begin to decorate your home, whether you have ideas but need help pulling it together, or if you simply haven’t the time to execute your project, a professional designer can help you avoid costly mistakes and can increase the value of your home.

A good designer will help you incorporate your own personal taste into your home as well as offering the technical support and know how to deliver a successful hassle free project. A designer knows where to go for resources for everything related to your home. This will save you endless amounts of time researching products, brands and prices. Over time we have built up an extensive supplier base, meaning we can source many unique items for your home that are not available locally or to the public. Our network includes expert craftsmen, soft furnishing makers, cabinet makers and builders.

How can a designer help with the building stage?

Interior designers have years of experience of managing building projects and know what pitfalls to avoid, for example it is essential to have a lighting plan an furniture layout before you start building work or you will be lighting the wrong parts of a room and the sockets will be in the wrong place.

We have a good network of experienced tradesmen built up over time and can provide support and be a liaison for you throughout the renovations.
If needed we can be on site everyday and are trained to assess a situation and solve many problems that can occur throughout a build project.

Can anyone call themselves an interior designer?

In short, yes.
So it is very important to ensure that your designer has professional qualifications or is a member of the British Institute of Interior Design. Be sure to check that they have professional indemnity insurance, have clear terms and conditions and can show you a portfolio of past projects.

What if I just want help choosing paint colours?

We are happy to work to the level of involvement that suits you.

Some clients require specific help with colour schemes, room layout or sourcing interesting materials and furniture, while others prefer to hand over the entire project to us.

Perhaps you love colour but are nervous about how to use it. We recently had a client who handed over her house keys as she was leaving on holiday saying ‘I need to paint my hall but I can only think of magnolia – do it next week and you can choose any colour you like, I want a surprise when I get home’. She returned from holiday and loved it. (It’s a soft grey/blue by the way. We looked at the clothes she wore, her skin tone, the light and the other colours in the house to make the choice.)

How much will it cost?

Fees may be calculated on an hourly basis or as a fixed project fee depending on what is right for you. There are no hidden charges, when sourcing furnishings we charge the recommended retail price and do not mark up above that. Because we are good at what we do we can often make your budget stretch further.

How do we get started?

Give us a call or drop us an email.

For bespoke design we will carry out a free initial consultation to learn what the project will entail and what your requirements are. During this time we will discuss colour schemes, design options, and other relevant information, and explain how we work. From this, we will produce a design brief, following this you will have as much time as you need to decide if you would like us to proceed.

Do you work with any particular style?

Yes and No. Whilst we have our own signature style, we are very happy to work to your individual taste to achieve the look you would like, it keeps our design work interesting and fresh!
